History
Ukselösund harbors have been used for over 500 years. An increase in mining in the 19th century (for example, Bergslagen ) made the Ukselsösund a maritime transport hub. In 1873, the railway began to work.
In 1913, a metallurgical plant was built in Ukselsösund, which served as a reason for the increase in the settlement.
By 1950, the village had become sufficiently developed in order to obtain the status of a city. Thus, Ukselsösund became one of the last settlements, which received the status of a city in Sweden. However, in 1971, Ukselesund again became only the center of the commune of the same name without the status of the city, the smallest commune in the country.
Sport
Ukselsösund is home to the Ramdalen Stadium.
