Choephoroi Painter , a German Choephoren-Maler ) is an anonymous Greek vase painter who worked in Lucania in the middle of the 4th century BC. e. in red-figure technique .
Famous works
- The name vase is a pelika depicting a scene from the second play of the tetralogy Orestei - Hoefory ( Greek Χοηφόροι ) [1] ). Side A of the vase depicts three figures - Orestes , Hermes and Electra , sitting on the steps. This is a typical Lucanian theater vase [2] . Exhibited in the Louvre (room number 44).
- Nestorida with the scene of the death of Actaeon . On side A1: Actaeon turns into a deer at the behest of the goddess Artemis and is torn into pieces by dogs. This is watched by the nymph Nais. On the A2 side, Frix , Gella and the Golden Fleece are depicted. Side B: Orestes is pursued by Erinius [3] [4] . It is stored in the Harvard Museum of Art ( Cambridge , USA).
- Scythos , dated 360-340 years BC. e., with the characteristic of the vase painter of Hoephora, the image of figures in three quarters [5] .
