Story

Events unfold in the ghost town of Pripyat , which was home to workers serving the Chernobyl power plant . In 1986, the city suffered from radiation as a result of a nuclear disaster . A group of friends (Americans Natalie, her fiance Chris, his elder brother Paul, who has been living in Kiev for some time, and Amanda, who is traveling on holidays in Ukraine ) decided to go on an extreme trip to Pripyat , taking the former military Yuri as guides. Two more tourists are traveling with them - Michael and Zoe. When the group gets to the first checkpoint , Yuri is suddenly forbidden to travel, and he decides to get into the exclusion zone along a country road, playing the guys along the way. During a stay in the city, the group manages to take some photos and encounter a bear in an abandoned high-rise building. There, Yuri notices the coals from a recent fire, but, having scattered the coals with his foot, he does not say anything to the others. In the evening, when it comes time to go back, Yuri notices that someone bit the high-voltage wires in his UAZ, which is why the car will not start. He tries to call for help on the radio, but nothing comes of it. And the guys stay in the car for the night.

When the streets of Pripyat got dark, the guys begin to hear an incomprehensible noise nearby. Natalie, this sound resembles a crying baby. Yuri takes out a gun and is about to inspect the area. Chris is walking with Yuri. After the guys went a long enough distance, shots reach the group, and Paul runs to their aid. He returns to the van only with his brother, whose leg is badly damaged. Since Chris was in a state of shock, he only reports that “there are hundreds of them” and that they dragged Yuri away. Providing assistance to the victim, the guys spend the night in a van. At night, the wagon is attacked by dogs, but cannot break in and retreat.

The next morning, Paul, Michael and Amanda go in search of Yuri, leaving Chris, his bride Natalie and Zoe, in the van. Following the traces of blood, they get to an abandoned building and in the kitchen they find the torn corpse of Yuri. Paul found a dosimeter and a magazine from a gun on the corpse, but not the gun itself. Suddenly they hear someone coming to them. The guys manage to run out of the room through another door, and Amanda is hiding at the tables. She notices that the humanoid creature that frightened them devours Yuri. Under one of the tables she finds a gun and manages to escape at the same door as the guys. The zombie notices her and begins to chase. The guys lock the door, shoot through it and run away.

Running to the car, Paul and his team begin to pack and leave. You need to go 20 kilometers to the checkpoint. Amanda notes that one of her photographs depicts a humanoid figure in one of the windows of the houses, but does not say so. Since Chris cannot walk, he and his bride remain in the van, while the rest try to walk to the checkpoint and call for help. On the way, they wander into the parking lot of infected vehicles. The strangest thing on it is a trolley bus shot inside, in which a military man was apparently hiding - Paul finds a bloodied piece of cloth from a military uniform on broken glass, a malfunctioning machine gun and an empty magazine from it. The guys find the necessary parts for the engine and are about to return, but the dogs rush after them. As a result, the guys arrive already at night and, most surprisingly, their van is not, and in its place there is only a torn seat. The van is found around the corner, turned upside down and with traces of blood. There was also a video camera that showed that a group of zombies had attacked Chris and Natalie, turned their van over and dragged them away. The guys in a panic at night begin to search for their friends.

They end up in dungeons that look like a bomb shelter or secret laboratory, probably the reactor rooms and the control panel. There they meet the shocked Natalie and then are attacked by zombies. One by one, Natalie, Michael and Zoe die. Chris was never found. Only two remain: Amanda and Paul. Wandering in search of a way out of the dungeons, they pass through the reactor room, receiving a huge dose of radiation and radioactive burns. They are met by the military near the fourth Chernobyl power unit. Since Paul, blinded by radiation, goes to the military, not responding to their orders to stop, they kill him.

Amanda was taken away by some people in dressing gowns and respirators , asking questions along the way. Amanda says that no one knows where she is, and her friends died. Talking to each other, doctors in lab coats discuss whether all escaped patients - victims of the Chernobyl accident - were caught, and that the girl should not be allowed to go, once she saw "them." Amanda is locked in a dark room, where the very victims who were chasing the guys in Pripyat find themselves. They pounce on the girl. A heartbreaking scream is heard, then the final credits for the song of Marilyn Manson No Reflection go.
