The lakes Iordanskoye and Kirillovskoye are separated by a dam, inside which passes the Obolonsko-Teremkovskaya metro line , and Obolonsky Prospekt runs along the surface. Before the dam was built, it was one lake.
The Syrets River flows into Kirillovskoye Lake.
Lakes are part of the local rainwater drainage system . Industrial water is discharged from enterprises and residential buildings in the Shevchenkovsky, Podolsky, Obolonsky districts. According to the sanitary epidemiological station and the Institute of Hydrobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine , the water in the lakes has chemical and bacteriological pollution. Officially swimming in these lakes is prohibited.
Verbnoye Lake , located in the south of Obolon between the Jordanian Lake and the Dnieper , is completely artificial (a hydro-wash-out pit), it does not connect to the Guardian system and does not belong to it. Swimming in it is allowed, the beach is equipped [3] . The lake and the adjacent coastal strip make up the territory of the vernal reserve “ Verbnoe Lake ”.
