History
Opened as a station of the Morshansk-Syzran railway (later Syzrano-Vyazemskaya railway ) in 1874, not far from the Shigaevsky hamlet, owned by Ivan Vasilievich Vernadsky (father of Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky , an outstanding scientist and public figure), who received possession of a dowry. I.V. Vernadsky ensured that the railway was carried out near the Shigaevsky farm, by allocating a plot of land for the railway, station and station buildings. The station was named after the owner’s name, Vernadovka. [1] [4]
