Biography
After graduation, he worked as a locksmith in the local branch of Selkhoztekhniki, then as a truck driver. He served in the army (in a construction company), with a fourth attempt he entered the Uzhgorod College of Music in 1980.
He graduated from college in 1983 in three years, having skipped an external course, and in the same year entered the vocal faculty of the Kiev Conservatory , where he studied in the class of K. D. Ognevoy , professor, head of the department, and national artist of Ukraine. During his studies, he took part and won in more than 10 different competitions and festivals.
As a second-year student at the S. Giga Conservatory, he is the soloist of the mega-gig-synthesis group Stozhary, popular in some areas of the Chernigov region, at the Chernihiv Philharmonic, and simultaneously works as a soloist at the Kiev Conservatory's opera studio, led by USSR People's Artist Dmitry Gnatyuk .
After graduating from the conservatory, he got a job as a soloist at the National Opera, however, due to an exacerbation of a severe mental disorder, he returned to his native Transcarpathia - and in 1988 became a soloist in the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic. In 1989, S. Giga created the Beskid jazz rock band.
After the breakup of the group in 1991, for the first time he is trying to arrange, write his own songs. This occupation has not parted so far. Subsequently, he created his own recording studio "GIGARecords". A few years ago, on the basis of the GIGARecords studio, he created the Stepan Gigi Art Agency , where young performers study.
February 20, 1998 became the Honored Artist of Ukraine, and four years later, on December 28, 2002, received the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
