Biography

Born July 5 ( 16 ), 1789 in the Ryazan province , the son of Major General Gerasim Alekseevich Baturin .

He began his service in 1804 as an actuary of the Moscow Archive of the College of Foreign Affairs, from where he joined the cadet in the Life Guards Jaeger Regiment on January 1, 1808 and was promoted to officers on February 12, 1810.

In 1812, Baturin participated in repelling Napoleon’s invasion of Russia , and was in the battles of Smolensk , Borodin, and Krasny . Then in 1813-1814 he made a trip abroad and was in the battles of Luzen and Kulm , where he was wounded, and during the capture of Paris . For combat distinctions against Napoleon, Baturin was awarded a gold sword with the inscription "For courage" (for the battle near Red), the Russian Order of St. 4th degree Vladimir with a bow, the Prussian Order of Pour le Mérite and a special Prussian badge of the Order of the Iron Cross ( Kulm Cross ).

December 21, 1819 promoted to colonel and transferred to the 13th Jaeger Regiment , March 8, 1820 was appointed commander of this regiment. On December 6, 1827, he was promoted to major general and on January 18, 1831, he was given command of the 2nd brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division, to which he arrived only four months after his appointment, since during this time he was under the Highest Command in the provinces of Tverskaya (in the city of Ostashkov ) and Pskov (in the village of Borovichi ) and commanded quarantines during cholera . Joining the command of the brigade, Baturin participated in the Polish campaign of 1831 ; during the capture of Warsaw he received a concussion in his left leg and was wounded by a gun bullet. For this campaign he was awarded a golden sword with the inscription "For Courage" and diamond jewelry.

On December 6, 1836 he was appointed commander of the 5th Infantry Division, on April 18 of the following year he was promoted to lieutenant general, and on May 7, 1849 he was appointed to the Senate. He was present in the 1st department of the 6th department, and since October 5, 1852 - in the 2nd department of the 6th department. Retaining the title of senator, from June 21 to October 16, 1849, he served as commandant of the Shlisselburg Fortress, after which he was again appointed to the Senate.

He died on October 19 ( 31 ), 1856 , was buried in Moscow at the cemetery of the Pokrovsky monastery .
