Biography
There is another spelling of the name - Lermantov [1]
Born in the family of retired lieutenant commander of the fleet Nikolai Petrovich Lermontov.
As a midshipman, he participated in the Russian-Swedish war of 1808-1809 and on the rowing boat "Snapop" distinguished itself on September 6, 1808 in the battle near the island of Palvo, for which he was awarded the insignia of the military order .
In 1809 he graduated from the Marine Corps with production on December 14 in the rank of midshipman .
December 7, 1811 transferred to the Guards crew .
During the Patriotic War of 1812, he participated in the battles for Smolensk on August 3-6 and in the Battle of Borodino on August 26, for which he was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the Fourth Degree with a sword.
On May 9, 1813, he participated in the battle of Bautzen , for which he was promoted to lieutenant on June 13. In 1813, he was contused in the battle of Kulm , and was awarded the Order of St Vladimir of IV degree with a bow and Kulm cross for his bravery and stewardship. In the rank of lieutenant participates in the battle of Leipzig and the capture of Paris .
In 1816-1818, he commanded the frigate "Russia". In 1819, on the frigate "Agile" made the transition to Iceland. In the years 1820-1823, he commanded the "Ceres" fad. In 1821 he was awarded the Order of St. Anne III degree . In 1823, on the frigate "Agile" made the transition to Iceland. August 30, 1824 promoted to lieutenant commander . In the campaign of 1830, he commanded the 110-gun ship “ St. George the Victorious ” when navigating from St. Petersburg to Kronstadt and cruising it at Red Gorka. In 1831 he was appointed commander of the 74-gun ship "Katsbach" with production on August 30 in the rank of captain of the 1st rank . In the same year he was appointed temporary commander of the Port of Libavia .
In the campaign of 1832 he commanded the ship “St. St. George the Victorious "in the Baltic Sea. On November 8, 1832, he was appointed Vice-Director of the Inspection Department of the Main Naval Staff, leaving the Guards crew.
December 25, 1833 for service was awarded the Order of St. George IV degree .
December 6, 1837 promoted to the rank of rear admiral and in the same year was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav II degree .
December 6, 1839 awarded the Order of St. Stanislav I degree .
August 30, 1848 promoted to vice-admiral with the appointment of the commander of the port of Sveaborg and the military governor of Sveaborg.
During the Crimean War, he distinguished himself in the defense of Sveaborg, for which he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir, II degree . On June 2, 1854, he was appointed a member of the general audience. July 29, 1857 appointed to consist of the maritime ministry.
February 22, 1860 promoted to the rank of admiral with the dismissal.
His grave is located on the Volkov cemetery in St. Petersburg.
