Biography

In 1851 he entered the Dresden Academy of Arts, from 1853 he worked in the workshop of Genel. After graduating from the Academy, he lived in Rome for two years, returned to his homeland and settled in Dresden.

In 1862 he opened his workshop in Dresden , in which he performed a number of excellent sculptural works.

  • The Healing of Elizabeth, Queen of Greece (1859)
  • Bohemia, a seated statue for the Bohemian train station in Dresden (1863)
  • Christ statue for the Dresden cemetery (1863)
  • Well of the Nymphs, statue for Moltke Square in Dresden
  • The Centaur and the Nymph (1865)
  • “History and Architecture”, a colossal allegorical sculptural figure (1867, for the new museum in Gotha , Germany )
  • Symbolic sculpture of the unification of Germany (1871)
  • Macbeth and the Witches, for the new court theater in Dresden
  • "Psyche crowning cupid"
  • "Wounded Cupid"
  • several statues for the local church of st. John and others
