Biography
Born in Vladimir in the family priest. For seven years, he was devoted to learning the holy books and, as soon as he was skilled in Divine Scripture, began to show zeal for the temple of God.
After the death of his father, being a 12-year-old boy, Jacob, with the blessing of his mother, went to the Virgin-Nativity Monastery near Vladimir , and at 21 he took monastic vows with the name Pachomius in honor of St. Pachomius the Great .
A few years later, the monk Pakhomiy was ordained deacon by Bishop Vladimir of Alexis (Byaktom) , the future Metropolitan of Kiev.
In 1352 he was ordained to the dignity of hieromonk , and in 1365, upon the resumption of the Konstantinovsky monastery, he was appointed his first hegumen .
In arranging the monastery, the Monk Pakhomii burned away with the desire for solitude and soon retired to a deserted place near Nerekhta , where he built the Trinity Church and in extreme old age died on March 23, 1384.
Power
On May 6, 1675, the relics of St. Pachomius were found incorruptible, but left under a bushel. Thanks to numerous miracles, veneration of the saint quickly spreads around. In the Trinity Cathedral, a chapel and a stone tomb over the relics are arranged in his name.
On February 17, 1993, the administration of the Kostroma region transferred the corps of the former Pakhomiyev Monastery of the Kostroma diocese . At present, the Trinity Church has been completely restored and decorated, and a new sister building and almshouse have been additionally built in the monastery. The relics of St. Pachomius are one of the most important shrines of the renovated monastery and attract numerous pilgrims .
