Peder Claussen Fries

The Klausen genus was named by the Netherlands botanist Nicholas Burman in honor of Peder Claussen Fries (1545-1614), a Norwegian writer and priest. In the original publication of Burman, the name “Claucena” was used, but it was subsequently changed.

Botanical description

Representatives of the genus - trees and grassy plants . The leaves are arranged alternately, wrong pinnately-dissected.

The flowers are usually bisexual, rarely pistillate, collected at the ends of the shoots or in the leaf axils in sweeping or racemose inflorescences . The calyx and halo are divided into 4 or 5 lobes. Stamens 8-10, filaments slightly thicker at the base than at the top.

The fruit is a berry without pulp, with a membrane-shaped endocarp. Seeds without endosperm, in elliptical cotyledons.

Area

Clausen species grow in tropical regions of Asia , Africa and Australia .
