This species is found in the states of Guarico and Miranda , in the central part of the coastal forest of Venezuela at an altitude of between 150 and 750 m. It lives on the banks of rapid streams in the primary moist forests of the lowlands. Eggs are laid in rotting leaves on forest soil. Tadpoles, presumably, are carried on the backs of males to streams, where they develop further, as in related species.
