Biography

Shcherbovich-Vecher was born on February 18, 1843 in a noble family of Catholic religion. Having received his initial education at the Slutsk Gymnasium , he entered military service on August 31, 1861, and, after graduating from the 2nd Konstantinovsky Military School , was released as an officer in the 8th Dragoon Astrakhan Regiment [1] (June 12, 1863).

Continuing his service, he received the ranks of lieutenant (June 17, 1864), staff captain (February 16, 1867) and captain (March 7, 1872) and entered the Military Law Academy , which he graduated in 1875 from the 1st rank ( 2nd in release). October 21, 1875 promoted to majors , and in 1878 renamed the captains of the military court.

In 1878-1883, Shcherbovich-Vecor served as assistant military prosecutor of the Moscow Military District Court, was promoted to lieutenant colonel (April 17, 1879) and colonel (August 30, 1882); at the same time taught law at the Alexander Military School . From October 28, 1883, he served as the military prosecutor of the Kiev Military District Court, and from August 12, 1888, he held the same post for 13 years in the Caucasian Military District Court; August 30, 1892 promoted to major general .

On September 3, 1901, Shcherbovich-Vecor was appointed chairman of the Siberian Military District Court and was promoted to lieutenant general on December 6 of that year. During the Russo-Japanese War, he was sent (with resignation) to the army and was chairman of the cassation presence of the theater of operations in the Far East. October 3, 1905 was transferred to the post of chairman of the Caucasian Military District Court.

On January 13, 1907, Shcherbovich-Vecher became one of the five permanent members of the Main Military Court (instead of the deceased General F.E. Strelnikov ). In the same year, he joined the Supreme Military Criminal Court, which examined the case of General A.M. Stessel .

On April 13, 1908, Lieutenant General Shcherbovich-Vecher died at the age of 65.

He had 6 children, of which Alexander, Nikolai and Sergey were officers of the Russian Imperial Army, Eugene and Vladimir served in the Separate Gendarmes .

Notes

  1. ↑ The "List of Seniority Generals" for 1907 and 1908 indicates that he was released into the 8th Dragoon Smolensky Emperor Alexander III Regiment. However, a regiment with that name existed only in 1882-1907, and the Shcherbovich-Vecher obituary says that he was released into the 8th Dragoon Astrakhan of Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich; in the same regiment, he served in the year of graduation from the Military Law Academy.
