History
At the beginning of the 19th century, Kalmyk lands began to be settled by peasants who moved from the low-land provinces of central Russia. Among others, in the northern part of the Maloderbetovsky ulus of the Kalmyk steppe of the Astrakhan province , the village of Aksayskaya arose. In the 1830-1840s, the government separated the settlers significant sections of the steppe [3] .
According to the Memorial Book for 1914, the village of Aksai was the center of the Aksai volost of the Chernoyarsk district of the Astrakhan province . As of 1914, the volost united the villages of Aksai, Abganerovo , Peregruznoye , Zhutovo , the Samokhin farm and Shelestov . There were 710 households in the village, 2425 male and 2395 female souls lived [4] .
Since 1920, the village is part of the Tsaritsyn province . Then sequentially - the Lower Volga region , the Stalingrad district of the Lower Volga region , the Stalingrad region (later - Volgograd ). From 1935 to 1947 it was the district center of the Voroshilov district of the Stalingrad region [5] .
Geography and climate
The village is located in a steppe area in the valley of the Aksai Esaulovsky (Gniloy Aksay) river 26 kilometers east of the village of Oktyabrsky , 10 kilometers southeast of the nearest railway station. The Volgograd - Salsk highway passes near the village.
