The station was opened on April 24, 1937 as part of the second line of Queens Boulevard, Ay-en-di . It is located on the four-track section of the line and is represented by two side platforms serving only external, local paths. The two central tracks are not equipped with platforms, so the trains that follow there do not stop at the station. The walls at the station are finished in yellow tones, the columns are painted in blue. The name of the station is presented both in the form of mosaics on the walls, and in the form of standard black plates on the columns.
The station has two exits. There is a mezzanine above the platforms in their entire length. The main exit is from the east end of the platforms. It is represented by stairs and a turnstile hall on the mezzanine. The exit leads to the intersection of Boulevard Satphin and Hillside Avenue . The second exit, the south one, is represented only by full height turnstiles and is open at a certain time. It leads to the intersection of 144th Street and Hillside Avenue. There used to be other exits, but at the moment there are only two.
Movie Station
In the movie Trip to America, the station is mentioned in one of the episodes. In the frame, you can even see the signs with the name of the station. In fact, this scene was filmed at Hoyt Street - Skermerhorn Street Station on one of the abandoned platforms.
