Description of the cartoon

About a hundred years ago, little men lived deep in the forest. They had their own city in the forest, not far from the city of Big People. Humans possessed many technical tricks of that time. In the city lived the Indian Ski, Fisherman Lim, Mechanic Bursh, Murzilka , and, of course, Dunno . Once the evil Barrabass robbed the Geographical Society, where there were all the maps, books and globes of men, now he is preparing to take over the world.

Story

Barrabass enters the museum of men and steals cards and the number VII from the clock. At this time, Dunno arrives at work by mail, and Jacek tells him that someone is stealing numbers. He suspects Sailor of this, but Dunno does not believe him, because he knows that Sailor is his friend and would not steal numbers. Dunno does not understand who needs all these numbers. In the meantime, in his lair, Barrabass invents a navigator through the walls (he uses Barrabass near the end to get into the printing plant).

Dunno comes home to her brother Znayka, helps her brother assemble a camera and they go to Musical Mountain, while Murzilka comes to the museum and runs into a trap of ropes and barrels of paints, fortunately, friends heard his cries for help and ran to help, checking whether Murzilka was safe and sound, Dunno discovered that Barrabass had stolen the cards and left his name, trying to understand who it was, the little men discovered the characteristic of Barrabass: "He is very dangerous, his place of residence is unknown."

Meanwhile, at Barrabass, the caterpillar of his assistant Lady Fi ate the records of the Captain of the military cruiser, but he finds a record of Znayka’s voice and reconfigures it to the voice of the Captain and decides to record Znayka’s voice. To do this, he first orders one of his henchmen to record a voice, but since this venture failed, Barabass personally abducts Znayka and asks all residents of the Small Town to wait for a telegram. After recording his voice, Lady Fi began to torture Znayka, and Barrabass's accomplice began to photograph how Lady Fi tickled Znayka. Then Barrabass ties Znayka to the bomb and leaves him on the freight train.

Humans also do not sit idly by: some of them are going to save Znayka, but are lost in the catacombs, and only thanks to the invention Bursha get out of it. Those who wait for a telegram receive it and find out that the bomb will explode at 2 o’clock, the little men decide to chase the freight train in order to save Znayka and turn the arrow to get on the rails along which the train will go.

Having done all this, Dunno unbinds her brother from the bomb and ties it to the Barrabass helicopter, after which his helicopter explodes and falls into the water, it would seem that Barrabass died, and all the little men celebrate the victory over Barrabass.

However, Barrabass was somehow able to survive. In order to get the cup from the competition, he changes clothes in Murzilka and, standing in his place, goes to the races, where Murzilka was supposed to be the main judge of the competition, and if there is no winner, the judge will take the cup. Naturally, no one wins, Barrabass takes the goblet with the number 1 and runs away, meanwhile Znayka brags to everyone that he blew up the Barrabass, and Dunno learns that Barrabass is alive and tries to warn everyone, but no one believes him. Then Dunno gets into the trunk of the Barrabass car, goes with him and Lady Fi to the submarine of Barrabass, Dunno listens to the conversation of Barrabass and Lady Fi, that they will go to the lighthouse and Dunno learns where the refuge of Barrabass is. The boat began to sink, and the friends of Dunno barely pull it out.

The next morning, a false newspaper was printed at the printing plant, where Lady Fi tickled Znayka, everyone, having received this newspaper and reading it, was angry, but Dunno convinced everyone that this was all a lie, because Znayka was really captured by Barrabass. He also tells them that Barrabass is hiding in a lighthouse and that the men in three planes and the airship depart for the lighthouse. Barrabass learns that the little men are flying behind him. He has to close all the entrances in order to take the men away from the laboratory. The people split up and find a tunnel into the lair of Barrabass, but because of the inability to go down there, they see how Barrabass flies away from the lighthouse on its airship, and head for it. During the chase, misfortunes occur: lightning hits one plane, and the second bursts. However, a few men made their way to the airship of Barrabass, but Barrabass himself, along with Lady Fi, are parachuting

In principle, the little men no longer need him, the main thing is that they found the stolen cards, but Dunno says that they will meet with him again.

At the end of the cartoon, the little men return home, Dunno tells Pugovka that he never caught Barrabass, but Pugovka reassures him that next time he will catch, thereby hinting at the second part, and before the final credits they show the words “To be continued”.

The promised continuation after the failure of the cartoon at the box office was canceled .

Despite the positive reaction of the critics, the cartoon received mainly a negative reaction from the audience: on the KinoPoisk website “Dunno and Barrabas” has a rating of 4.6 / 10 (based on 444 reviews). The main arguments of the criticism were the absurdity of the plot, poor animation, obsessive 3D graphics and poor disclosure of the characters' characters.

Due to negative reviews and a failure at the box office, the planned continuation was not withdrawn, although earlier two episodes were filmed to continue, but having learned about the failure, these two episodes were deleted and the planned continuation was not removed.
