Tow, weaving ducks, homespun fabric.

Tow , tow [1] - flax fiber , hemp or wool cleared of a fire , prepared for spinning.

A tow is obtained after the treatment of fibrous waste (a mixture of mixed fibers and bonfires ), which are formed by processing linen and hemp trusts into long fibers in bobbin machines. Ritual significance

Tow often refers to hair. At the eastern Slavs, the bride was made of tow at the wedding, the flax fibers were woven into the braids of the bride during the construction of the “woman’s” hairstyle; they used their hair to weave a mortal shroud, and a braid from a tow was tied to a grave cross (white). Tow, like flax, hemp in general, was called "hair of the earth."
