Mohammed Namadi Sambo (born August 2, 1954) is a Nigerian politician and currently the 4th Vice-President of Nigeria . He was appointed vice president on May 13, 2010, and took office five days later, [1] and then took the oath on May 19, 2010. [2] Architect by education, Sambo is a graduate of Ahmadou Bello University, Zaria. [3]

Before joining politics
Mohammed Namadi Sambo was born on August 2, 1954 in Zaria , Kaduna , Nigeria. In 1959 he was sent to the Baptist elementary school in the city of Kakuri, Kaduna, then he was transferred to the Kobe elementary school, the state of Bauchi , and later he moved to the city school No. 1 in Zaria. From 1967 to 1971, he studied at a public secondary school, now it is Alhud-Hud College in Zaria. He studied at the Ahmadou Bello University School of Basic Research in 1972, after which in 1973 he received a pass to the famous Department of Architecture at Ahmadou Bello University and graduated in 1976 with honors in architecture, receiving a bachelor 's degree , and in 1978 received master 's degree . He served in the Ministry of Public Works and the National Housing Service for Youth until August 1979. [four]
In 1988, he was appointed Commissioner for Transport and Housing of the State of Kaduna. In 1990, Namadi Sambo left government service in the state of Kaduna and returned to private activities.
Governor of Kaduna
In May 2007, Mohammed Namadi Sambo took over as governor of Kaduna, Nigeria. His term ended May 18, 2010. He promised his voters that they would consider all development issues and social needs of the Kaduna state, raise funds for the empowerment of women and young people, create new jobs, solve the issue of strategic security, and restore the state economy. Sambo was a big supporter of his work, the welfare and interests of the people of Kaduna. He tried to make every effort so that his stay in power would benefit and prosper for the people. [5] After successfully serving as governor, he was elected deputy president of Nigeria.
Vice President
After the death of President Umaru Yar-Adua, Goodluck Jonathan became the new head of state. Jonathan nominated Sambo as Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, taking office at the National Assembly on Friday, May 15, 2010. On May 18, 2010, the National Assembly approved the appointment of Goodluck Jonathan as president, as well as the appointment of the former governor of Kaduna, Namadi Sambo, as vice president. On May 19, 2010, Namadi Sambo officially took the oath as Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. [8] [9]
