Biography
Bree Schaaf was born on May 28, 1980 in Bremerton , Washington . From a young age I became interested in sports, at school I ran, played volleyball and basketball, and later, entered Portland State University , played for the student volleyball team. After the Olympic Games in 2002, on the advice of his older brother, Tim decided to try herself in the skeleton, was selected to the national team and joined the US team. Nevertheless, in this sport her career turned out not so bright, the best result at the World Cup Schaaf showed in November 2006, having arrived sixth at the stage in Calgary. Multiple failures made her think about changing her profile, so in 2007 she switched to bobsled.
Success in this discipline did not come right away either, since at the World Cup debut for itself, held in St. Moritz, Switzerland, it took only the eleventh position. But two years later, things went much better, followed by a victory in the national championship, as well as fourth, fifth and sixth places in the North American stages of the World Cup. This turned out to be enough to earn the right to defend the country's honor at the Olympic Games in Vancouver - thanks to the good results, the US team, on a par with Germany, had the opportunity to delegate three women's teams to the competition, in connection with which Schaaf and her accelerator Emily Azevedo had a chance. As a result, the American women performed much better than their other compatriots, taking the fifth place in the women's double crew event.
In her free time from bobsleigh, Bree Schaaf loves to make music, while still at university she played the trombone in a student jazz ensemble, and also mastered a bass guitar, piano, harmonica and accordion. “With the help of musical instruments, I spill out the accumulated emotions,” she noted in an interview. "Therefore, even at competitive training camps, I can often be seen playing music" [1] .
