State Historical and Architectural Reserve "Ancient Kiev"

The State Historical and Architectural Reserve "Ancient Kiev" ( GIAZ "Ancient Kiev" ) is a complex of monuments of the historical center of Kiev . The boundaries of the reserve cover the northeast ledge of the Starokievskaya Mountain , Old Podil and a number of individual architectural monuments of the Old City . The reserve is a specially authorized body for the protection, use, restoration and popularization of monuments of architecture, history and culture, which are included in its borders.

The reserve "Ancient Kiev" has the status of an integrated monument of urban planning, and its entire territory has the status of land of historical and cultural purpose.

Content

Creation History

In 1987, by a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, the State Historical and Architectural Reserve "Ancient Kiev" was created on the territory of Ancient Podil and the neighboring part of Starokievskaya Mountain. [1] The boundaries of the reserve were determined based on the results of scientific research. By the decision of the Kiev Executive Committee in 1988, they were documented.

Since 1998, the reserve has been operating as part of the Kiev Scientific and Methodological Center for the Protection, Restoration and Use of Monuments of History, Culture and Protected Areas.

By a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2001, all the objects of the reserve were included in the register of monuments of national importance.

Composition of the reserve

The reserve covers an area of ​​175 hectares, which contains 74 architectural monuments, 15 - of history, 22 - of archeology, 2 - of monumental art.

  • North-eastern ledge of Starokievskaya mountain;
  • Old Hem;
  • Landscape objects (ancient Detinka objects, Gonchary-Kozhemyaki tract, etc.);
  • A number of individual architectural monuments of the Old City (churches and cells of the Holy Protection Monastery , a monument to Prince Vladimir , Magdeburg Law , Grigory Skovoroda and many others).
