Boris Kondratievich Khromov ( July 20, 1918 - July 22, 1966 ) - participant of the Great Patriotic War , gun commander of the 231st Guards Rifle Regiment of the 75th Guards Rifle Division of the 30th Rifle Corps of the 60th Army of the Central Front , guard junior sergeant , Hero of the Soviet Union (1943) [1] .

Biography

Born on July 20, 1918 in the village of Dobryanka, now in the Repkinsky district, Chernihiv region . He graduated from 7 classes of the school. He worked in Kiev at the plant as a planer.

In the Red Army since 1939. On the fronts of World War II since 1941. Since March 1943 - gun commander of the 231st Guards Rifle Regiment of the 75th Guards Rifle Division .

Junior sergeant Khromov B.K. distinguished himself with special heroism of the guard when crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev, in battles when capturing and holding a bridgehead in the area of ​​the villages of Glebovka and Yasnogorodka ( Vyshgorod district of the Kiev region ) on the right bank of the Dnieper in the fall of 1943. Among the first ones, on September 23, 1943, with his calculation, he crossed the Dnieper River and, during the battles for expanding the bridgehead and repelling the enemy’s counterattacks, for several days supported with his fire the actions of the rifle units, being in their front lines.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for successfully crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev, firmly securing the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper River and showing courage and heroism of the Guard Guards, Junior Sergeant Khromov [2] Boris Kondratievich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the presentation Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [3] .

After the war, B.K. Khromov was demobilized. He lived in Kiev , worked on the railway and at the MV Lomonosov Kiev Chemical-Pharmaceutical Plant (now Farmak OJSC).

He died on July 22, 1966. He was buried in Kiev at the Baykovsky cemetery .
