History
Smith and Monsieur founded the company in 1994 to produce their first film, Clerks , in which the fictional View Askew Universe (View Askewniverse) first appeared. After the film was successful, View Askew received a large budget for the next film, which was the film Lobotryasy in 1995, which was poorly received by critics and had a commercial failure. Soon there were new films of the company - " In pursuit of Amy " (1997) and " Dogma " (1999).
At the beginning of the new millennium, View Askew released the animated sitcom Clerks: An Animated Series based on the movie Clerks. In 2001, “ Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back ” was released , starring Smith and his old friend Jason Muse in the characters of the inhabitants of the View Askew universe, Jay and silent Bob , who first appeared in Clerks and were present in most View Askew films. The next film was “The Girl from Jersey ” (2004), the first film “View Askew” which does not take place in the View Askew Universe . Two years later, Clerks 2 was released (2006), the film takes place 10 years after the actions of the first part. Two years later, View Askew releases Zack and Miri Make Porn (2008), the second film that takes place outside the View Askew Universe .
The company also released some of Smith's work, such as his answers to questions from the audience on the DVD “Evening with Kevin Smith” (2002), “Evening with Kevin Smith 2: The Evening is Harder” (2006), “Sold out: Third evening with Kevin Smith ” (2008) and “ Kevin Smith: Too Fat for the Forty ” (2010). And also “Less Sloppy with Kevin Smith” - a show in which three UCLA students participate, enrolled in the cinema class as a teacher in which Smith is.
The company also produces films for directors other than Smith: Malcolm Ingram ( “Drawing Flights” , “ Gay Bar in a Small Town ” ), Brian Johnson ( “Vulgar” ), Vincent Pereira ( “Best Place” ), and Brian Lynch ( "The Big Helium Dog" ).
The original logo of the company was a clown with bristles in lingerie and on an inflatable platform. The logo was later changed to a caricature of Jay and silent Bob.
