History
The vocalist of the group Marissa Paternoster started playing guitar at the age of 14 [2] ; at that time, her heroes among the musicians were Billy Corgan , Joey Santiago from the Pixies and Billy Zoom [3] . She met drummer Jarrett Doherty at Rutgers University Art College. [2] Formed in 2005 [4] [5] , the Screaming Females band began as a DIY project: the musicians organized concerts and released their first albums, Baby Teeth (2006) and What If Someone Watching Their TV? (2007) [6] [7] . Dougherty at that time re-read Michael Azerrad’s book Our Band Could Be Your Life , which tells about the career of American underground rock bands of the 1980s [4] [7] . In 2008, split singles were released with the bands Full of Fancy and Hunchback [6] , and the next year with Jeff the Brotherhood .
At one of the performances of the group, Joe Steinhardt, co-founder of the label Don Giovanni Records, turned to Doherty and said that "if their next record is not released through his company, then he will commit suicide" [1] . The next day, the contract was signed [1] , and in April 2009, Don Giovanni released the Power Move , which was the first Screaming Females album released on the label [7] . The disc received accolades from music critics, as well as famous musicians, among whom were Christine Hersh and Amy Ray [5] . In the same year, Screaming Females toured with The Dead Weather [6] .
The fourth album of the group called Castle Talk was released in 2010.
