Biography

Born on June 26, 1978 in New York, in the family of a translator and political analyst Pavel Palazhchenko , who at that time worked in the Russian section of the interpretation service of the UN secretariat.

In 1994 he graduated from the Moscow International Film School . He studied at the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theater Arts at the experimental faculty of the artist Yuri Nolev-Sobolev , where he was engaged in contemporary art of performance and multimedia art.

In 1993, he worked with the Center for Contemporary Art at Yakimanka, the Spider & Mouse art gallery and the Institute of Contemporary Art (later the Institute of Contemporary Art Problems).

In 1995, he collaborated with Interstudio (Tsarskoye Selo) on a number of educational art and experimental projects. [one]

In 1999 - 2001, he was the curator of the programs of the festivals "Unofficial Moscow", "Unofficial Capital", "Cultural Heroes of the 21st Century", held as part of the cultural and political project of Marat Gelman .

In 2002, he founded the Club of Contemporary Art Collectors with several Russian collectors, a non-profit association that contributed to the development of collecting and promoting contemporary art in Russia. At the Art Moscow Fair , the Club annually held contemporary art exhibitions from private collections. The Club also organized exhibitions, meetings, trips of Russian collectors to international contemporary art fairs. The peak of activity in the Club's activity occurred in 2004 .

Since 2004, at the invitation of the shareholders of the former Mosvinokombinat, he participated in the development of the concept and the creation of the Vinzavod Center for Contemporary Art in the complex of buildings of the former brewery, which became the first large public art cluster in Moscow. In 2005 - 2007 he was the director of Winzavod, since 2007 he was a member of the board of the Winzavod fund. [2]

In 2006, together with the publisher and philanthropist Alexander Pogorelsky, he organized the Metafuturism Contemporary Art Support Society and initiated the contemporary art festival Art Town : Shargorod in Shargorod , Ukraine . [3] Currently, Shargorod operates an international art residence.

In 2007, he was the curator of the architectural workshop with the participation of more than 40 young architects.

He worked on several of the first exhibitions at the River Station in Perm .

Collaborates with the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design .

In 2011, he was a member of a group of developers based on the Skolkovo business school of the project in the field of national branding, Center of the Russian Avant-Garde . The project was not implemented. In addition to Nikolai Palazhchenko, the development group included Vladimir Paperny , Marina Khrustaleva , Victoria Golembiovskaya , Nuna Alekyan and others.

In 2012, he created the faculty of "Art Management and Gallery Business" as part of the RMA Business School.

In 2017, he became the author of the series of exhibitions “Farewell to Eternal Youth”. "Farewell to eternal youth" is the central project of the anniversary program of the Center for Contemporary Arts Winzavod. Within nine months, 12 exhibitions of representatives of a new generation in contemporary Russian art will be organized.
