Biography

Born in the village of Tetleg of the Chuguevsky district of the Kharkov region on November 21, 1920 in a peasant family. Ukrainian. Member of the CPSU since 1945. He graduated from 5 classes, vocational school, worked as a turner at the machine-building plant named after the Comintern in Kharkov. In 1937 he graduated from the rabfak and the Kharkov flying club. In the Red Army since December 15, 1937. Place of call: Kaganovichsky RVK, Ukrainian SSR , Kharkov , Kaganovichsky district. He graduated from the Stalingrad Military Aviation School in 1940. He worked as an instructor pilot, first in Novosibirsk and then Chistopol flying clubs. On the fronts of World War II from June 1942 in the 440th fighter aviation regiment on the Stalingrad front , where he won his first victories in air battles [1] .

Deputy squadron commander of the 13th Fighter Aviation Regiment ( 201st Fighter Aviation Division , 2nd Combined Aviation Corps , 4th Air Army , North Caucasian Front ), candidate for membership of the CPSU (B) Lieutenant Ignatiev by May 1943 had committed 171 sorties, in 70 air battles personally shot down 10 enemy aircraft and 7 in the group.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 24, 1943, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to this, Lieutenant Ignatiev Mikhail Trofimovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal (No. 1119).

From June 1944 until the end of the war, Ignatyev, being the deputy commander of the air squadron of the 5th Guards Fighter Aviation Red Banner Order of Berlin Bogdan Khmelnitsky Regiment, performed 339 sorties, conducted 100 air battles, personally shot down 16 and as a part of the group - 5 enemy aircraft [ 2] .

Since 1946, captain Ignatiev is in stock. Since 1960 he lived in Maykop of the Krasnodar Territory. He worked as a rejecter in the furniture and woodworking association "Friendship". He died on November 27, 1973.
