History

Until the middle of the 20th century, Hod was one of the largest settlements of mountain Ossetia and was divided into two large quarters — Upper Move (Ullag Horde) and Lower Run (Dullag), which were actually separate settlements.

In the middle of the XIX century, the Strode was described as a rich village consisting of 43 courtyards with a population of 526 people. Representatives of the families of the Edzievs, Edzayevs, Saukhalovs, Gateyevs, Kaitukovs, Dzugkoyevs, Sozaevs and Gergievs resided in the village. The village was formally divided into family quarters, however, due to the compactness of the construction of the course of a clearly pronounced division, these quarters did not have [2] .

At the end of the XIX century, many residents of the Turn began to work in the Sadonskie and Mizursky mines. Mines were also being opened on the lands of the village of Hoda. Since December 23, 1897, Ivan Tsagaraev and Mikhail Basiev, on the lands of the village of Khod, discovered a deposit of hard coal. And on December 7, 1898, the fleet reserve lieutenant Nikolai Vladimirovich Filkovich discovered 2 deposits of silver-lead and zinc ores on the lands of the village. The provision of the Council of Ministers, approved on July 9, 1906, was decided: to allow the fleet lieutenant Nikolai Vladimirovich Filkovich for the exploration and development of fossil ores to be withdrawn on the ground of the village of Three Squares;

In 1901, the population of Hoda according to official statistics was already 653 people living in 91 courtyards. By this time, male and female schools had already been opened in Hod. Consecrated St. George's Church.

The Nizhny Khods detachment arose at the beginning of the 20th century, and was a working settlement of miners consisting of houses of a barrack type, in which the workers of the Sadon mines lived - coming from Upper Turn. Currently, the village of Lower Turn is completely abandoned.

By 1910, 832 people already lived in the village, and the number of courtyards increased to 143. However, the revolutionary events and the subsequent civil war had a strong impact on the life of the village. In 1921 an agricultural artel "Labor Highlander" was organized in the village. Members of the artel were citizens of the villages of Hod, Jimi and Unal. In 1925, it was noted that 42 young men between the ages of 17 and 28 were enrolled in the liquor station in the village of Hod.

By 1926, there were 103 courtyards in the village with a total population of 554 people. At the end of the 20th century, a sharp outflow of population began from the village. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the village lost its last infrastructure and its few inhabitants began to move to other settlements. Currently, 5 people live in Hod.
