Biography
Born in 1905 in a working-class family, he was the eldest of six children [1] . After the death of his father, at the age of 14 he entered as a mechanic's apprentice at the K. Marx plant in St. Petersburg , became a worker. Member of the RKSM since 1919 .
In 1922 he was appointed leader of the pioneer detachment at his plant. This was the first pioneer detachment on the Vyborg side and throughout Petersburg. May 19, 1922 is considered the birthday of the pioneer organization in the Soviet Union . From 1925 he worked as the head of the pioneer base at the Krasnaya Dawn plant.
Member of the Communist Party since 1926 . In the same year he was appointed head of the All-Union Artek pioneer camp. Sergey's pupils brought two telephone exchanges made by Komsomol members of Krasnaya Zari during their free time to Artek, which made it possible to telephone the Upper and Lower camps of the pioneer health resort [2] .
During the Great Patriotic War, a fighter of the 329th rifle regiment [2] , in 1941, died in battle on the Leningrad front near Luga [3] . According to the OBD Memorial, it is not listed as dead, but missing. [4]
Memory
- In 1965, a street in St. Petersburg was named after Margot.
- The school number 107 in Leningrad (now the gymnasium) opened a museum [3] of its graduate Sergey Margot [5] .
