In sport, a punch can be of a different nature and can be used for: 1) tasks of physical harm (martial arts), 2) tasks of a certain acceleration (sports games). In martial arts, a punch is a complex concept that includes a combination of offensive actions of a percussive nature that a person is able to perform with his hands. So, in particular, using the shock technique of the hands, the following actions are performed:

Main principles of hand striking technique

The components of a successful hand strike are precision and strength. Both accuracy and strength are achieved through training. The force of a blow by hand is created by: 1) the speed of movement, 2) the concentration and concentration of will and energy on the stroke, 3) using the most powerful muscles when performing a stroke; 4) by embedding body weight in a stroke.

When performing a hand strike, the muscles of the legs and torso play the main role: the kick starts with pushing and straightening the legs, accompanied by turning, tilting or straightening the body (depending on the type of blow) and shifting the body weight to the required side.

Hand punches can be countered by using a retreat or rebound from the line of attack, dodging, reflecting, blocking, etc. Hand punches can be outpaced by counterattacks.
