Biography

Eohide III was the son of King Dal Riad Eochide II of Clan Kenel Gabran . After the death of his father, who died in 697, Eochaidu could not keep the throne. However, in 726 he raised a successful rebellion against King Dungal and his brother Feredah and was able to become King Dal Riad himself. In 727, during the battle of Irros Fohn, a battle took place between Eohide III on the one hand, and Selbach and his sons, Dungal and Feredach, on the other. Eohide won, allowing him to retain the throne. Dungal and Feredah fled to Ireland , and Selbach died in 730.

The king of the Picts, Angus I , made a trip to Dal Riadu in 731. In the first battle, the Picts troops were defeated at the Battle of Muiborg, but then Angus’s son, Brude , managed to defeat the Scotches commanded by Talork Mac Congoys and put them to flight.

Eohide III died in 733. After his death, Dahl Riad was divided into three parts by the leaders of the warring clans of the Scots : Dungal Mak Selbayg and Muredah Mac Einbkellah divided its British lands among themselves, and Indrechth Mac Mac Fiannamile established itself in the Irish possessions of the kingdom.
