Title
Proviantskaya street was formed at the place of passage from the soldiers' settlements located beyond the current Bolshoi Prospect of the Petrograd Side , to the grocery stores of Mytniy Dvor . Here, the purchased food was stored, which was then delivered to Trinity, Mytninsky and other stores. The street was given its current name in the second half of the 19th century [2] .
History
Since 1849, the street was part of Mytninsky Lane , and in 1877 it received an independent name - Proviantskaya. The Mytniy Dvor itself, that is, customs , was located between the modern Dobrolyubov Avenue and Mytninskaya Embankment , and confiscated products were sold in grocery stores.
When the street became Proviant, customs were no longer in the area. She moved to the new Commercial Port on Gutuevsky Island , and the name of the passage passed from the neighboring street, also Proviantskaya, which existed since 1828 and in 1887 entered Church Street (now Blokhin Street) [3] .

From 1769 to 1776, Provognardeisky Lane , located in the Admiralteysky District of St. Petersburg, was called Provision Street from the spare grocery storefront for “helping the poor” located at the Kryukov Canal [4] .
