Story
During a storm, Tom is trying to find housing since he was kicked out. Meanwhile, Jerry works as an assistant in the castle of a mad scientist. He, along with Jerry, selects the orange cat Lightning Fast and ties it to the table next to Spike. Mad scientist with Jerry using the device change the characters of animals. The orange cat growls at Spike, and the dog meows plaintively. Scientist gives Jerry a sleeping cat dog. Meanwhile, Tom enters the castle, sees Jerry and grabs him. However, the cat dog protects the mouse. Tom tries to prove to Lightning that he and Tom are cats, but nothing comes of it.
In a panic, Tom tries to escape from the castle, and along the way he meets an elephant singing like a bird; a rooster that whitens; and mewing Spike (the cat Tom couldn’t figure out how to fix it, as he was already scared). Even in the hours the cuckoo mumbled. When the exhausted Tom looks at Jerry's mink, the latter begins to growl (the mouse becomes like a lion Leo - MGM symbol). Terrified, Tom leaves the castle.
Interesting Facts
- The red cat that Jerry defended is Lightning from the series “ Old Rockin 'Chair Tom ” ( Russian “Old Ruin Tom” ).
- The scene where Lightning fast defended Jerry for the first time resembles the scene from the The Truce Hurts series, only there Tom protected the mouse from Butch .
- This is the latest appearance of Lightning Fast.
- This is the first of 13 episodes led by Gene Deutsch.
Additional Information
All 13 episodes are recognized by some critics as the worst in the history of the animated series, as each series had its own oddities. For example, in this episode Spike is blue, and in the scene where Lightning strikes Tom with a bone on the head, Tom turns into a bag (all bones have broken). At the end, Tom has a fire coming out of his legs, and he takes off like a rocket.
About the cartoon
- In 1961, MGM decided to resume production of hand-drawn films for a reasonable price and transferred the right to produce the animated series to the Rembrandt Films studio in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). A suitable excuse was given by Gene Deutsch, an American director who lived in Prague. In 1961-62, he shot 13 new shorts with Tom and Jerry. For all the flaws, these shorts convinced MGM that Tom and Jerry were still stars. [one]
