Geography

Length - 109 km, length with Verkhnyaya Solza - almost 160 km.

Solza originates in Lake Solozero , located in the Onega region , where the Upper Solza flows. Before the confluence of the Kazanka, the Lower Solza is called. It flows mainly along the territory of the Primorsky region and flows into the Dvina Bay of the White Sea on the part of the Summer Coast that belongs to the territory of the municipality Severodvinsk .

In the lower reaches the river crosses the bridge of the highway " Arkhangelsk - Severodvinsk - Kanda - Onega ".


The average water discharge (m³ / s) of the Solza River for months from 1928 to 1988.
(measurements were made at the Dry Sills hydrological post 39 km from the mouth) [2]

Tributaries

The Pelezma and Kazanka rivers flow into Solzu , streams: Gluboky , Birch and Perevesny .

Geology

On the shores of Solza are deposits of the Ediacar period . They revealed several previously unknown representatives of the Ediakar fauna , including Solza margarita , which received the name in honor of the river [3] .

Economic Use

On Solz there are water intake facilities of the city ​​of Severodvinsk , as well as the Solzensky production and experimental salmon plant.

Pearl craft

Solza is known for its European pearl mussel population ( Margaritifera margaritifera ). From the 18th to the 20th century, pearls were fished in Solze and its tributary Kazanka. In the XVII century on Solze there were pearl lands [4] .
