Content

Emblem Description

“In a green field there is a golden pillar burdened in the head with a black head of roe deer, below on top are only two silver sabers with knobs up and down and two silver keys are also crossed, connected like lattices”.

Symbols description

The golden (yellow) pillar in the coat of arms shows that the city was founded by the Cossacks, the yellow color is the color of the Trans-Baikal Cossacks . In 1653, under the command of Maxim Urazov, the Nelyudsky fortress was founded, according to the name of the Tungus family, who roamed in those places.

Green color - includes several characters; hope, abundance, freedom. It symbolizes the railway line, the next historical milestone in the development of the region’s lands and the opening of the Shilka station in 1897-1900.

The central element of the coat of arms, its main symbol - “Guron”, the male roe deer, at the time of the first settlements is a widespread individual in the territory of the region (in its current borders). By analogy, “Gurans” are called people from the mixing of Russians with indigenous peoples - Evenki , Tungus and Buryats , who roamed the environs of the Shilka , Ingoda and Onon rivers . Symbolizes perseverance, love of freedom, pride.

Two crossed sabers with the directed blades down - symbolizing the heroic past of the population, the origins of the Cossacks and mean their use for defensive purposes.

Two crossed silver keys, symbolizing at the same time the discovery of new lands, bowels and upcoming discoveries.

Black color in heraldry symbolizes prudence, wisdom, modesty, honesty and eternity of being.

Silver in heraldry also symbolizes purity, wisdom, nobility, perfection, peace.

The emblem of the municipality "Shilkinsky District" in terms of heraldic symbols harmoniously reflects the history, natural features and wealth, as well as the main profile of activities of the local population.

History of coat of arms

In the Soviet period there were souvenir badges with the image of the heraldic emblem of the city of Shilka, not officially approved.

On one of them was depicted: “In the blue field, an overturned forked cross in the form of a railway line. In the first part, a deer standing on a green mountain; in the second - a railway sign; in the third - the plane on the pedestal. (author A.Julai)

On the second coat-shaped souvenir badge were depicted the locomotive , rails , mountains, fish .

On March 17, 2000, the Decision of the Shilkinsky District Assembly of Deputies of the Chita Region No. 52 approved the common coat of arms of the city of Shilka and the Shilka District.

The coat of arms was developed with the assistance of the Union of Heralds of Russia.
