Biography

Marie-Anne Liber was born on April 7, 1782 in Malmedy in the Belgian province of Liege in the family of Henri-Joseph Liber and Marie-Jeanne-Bernardine du Bois. From childhood, she was interested in music, played the violin. Then Marie-Anne became interested in botany. The first books on botany that Lieber used to define plants were the work of O. Brunfels and R. Doduns . Then she met the botanist A. L. S. Lejeune , who supplied her with more modern botanical literature. In 1810, Liber met the famous botanist O.P. Dekandol . In 1811, Liber wrote a chapter on the Malmedy region of the second volume of Lejeune's book on the flora of the surroundings of Spa . In 1815, the province of Liege became part of Prussia . Since 1826, Marie-Anne Liber published articles in the journal of the Paris Linnaeus Society . Marie-Anne Lieber died on January 14, 1865 at the age of 82.
