Biography
Vasily Shishkin was born a serf in the village of Ostrov near Moscow. Count Orlov Shishkin served as secretary. In 1811 he was appointed manager of the Khrenovsky stud farm . In 1818, he received freedom from Alexander I, and remained manager until 1831 , when, by order of Orlovβs daughter, Countess Anna Alekseevna Orlova , he was dismissed [1] .
After his dismissal, he continued to engage in horse breeding at his own factory in the Lovyanikovsky farm. Later this plant was called Alekseevsky stud farm. Thanks to V.I. Shishkin, the breed of horses of the Oryol trotter was bred. In the work, Shishkin applied innovative methods of breeding [2] .
February 5, 1845 V. I. Shishkin was appointed a corresponding member of the Committee of the State Horse Breeding.

- The construction of a horse breeding complex in Khrenovoy [3] is connected with the name of Vasily Ivanovich Shishkin according to the project of architect Gilardi [4] .
