Amazonian green kingfisher [1] ( lat. Chloroceryle amazona ) is a bird from the family of kingfishers.

Description
Amazonian green kingfisher from 29 to 30 cm long, weight 110 g. Plumage of the upper part of the body is metallic green, nape and throat are white. White belly on the sides with green stripes. The chest of the male is chestnut, the breast of the female is white with green spots on the sides. Unlike the similar green kingfisher , the Amazonian kingfisher does not have a white marking on its wings.
The call of the bird sounds like a sharp "kiekiekiekiek", calming down in pitch and volume.
Spread
The area of distribution of the species extends from the south of Mexico to the north of Argentina .
Reproduction
The bird digs in the slope of the coast a hole up to 1.6 m long and 10 cm in diameter. The female lays from 3 to 4 white eggs.
