History
In 1988, the Greek entrepreneur Minos Kyriakou founded a radio station in Athens, a suburb of Marusa, and a few months later received a broadcast license in Thessaloniki . On December 31, 1989 , television broadcasting of ANT1 began, a month after the launch of another entertainment television channel, the Mega Channel, with which ANT1 is still struggling for leadership in terms of the number of autidories. Since 1989, ANT1 exclusively broadcasts the Miss Greece contest.
To stand out from the competition, Minos Kyriakou hired a producer who quickly adapted the most popular programs and television series produced by American television channels. The channel quickly became popular in the country, holding an undisputed championship in 2005 . The channel specializes in creating world-famous talent shows, in particular, The X Factor, Dancing with the Stars, etc.
