Story
Hannah and Simon have been together for more than 20 years, living in unregistered relationships , and are quite happy in their own way. Simon has scrotal cancer . Seeing his seriously ill mother, suffering for many years from pancreatic cancer , he hesitates to tell Hannah about her illness right away. After some time, his mother falls into a coma as a result of a suicide attempt. Soon, Simon has to disconnect his mother from life support equipment, since her brain is dying .
Hannah at one of the service meetings meets with Adam, with whom she randomly has to see more and more. Once such a meeting ends with a joint night. By a tragic coincidence, it was on this night that Simon, due to his illness, should urgently be operated on. But Hannah does not answer his calls and finds out about the operation only the next day. However, visiting him in the hospital, she does not dare to tell him about the betrayal. After returning from the hospital, Simon asks for the hands of Hannah, and after a while they get married.
At the same time, Hannah cannot forget Adam. She finds him, and soon they begin an affair. Once, Simon meets Adam in the pool. They start a conversation, which unexpectedly ends with sex in the locker room. Simon feels confused, but his desire to see Adam again is very great. After some time, a passionate romance is struck between the men. Simon gets confused in his sexual orientation and tries to understand if he is gay. Adam reproaches Simon for trying to give everything a clear definition and label himself.
After a while, Simon and Hannah, visiting one exhibition, stumble upon Adam there. This meeting throws both of them into a light shock, but both intrigues remain a secret. Soon, Hannah realizes that she is pregnant, but she does not know who the father of the child is. She goes home to Adam without warning him about this, and finds him in the arms of her husband. Enraged, she picks up her things and leaves Berlin , going to her old friend in London . As a result of a medical examination, Hannah finds out that she wears twins, and at the same time, it is highly likely that both children have different fathers. Soon, Hannah returns to Berlin and meets with Simon, who sends her an invitation to the exhibition. After the relationship is clarified, both heroes realize that they missed each other and Adam. They go to Adam’s apartment to meet him. The film ends with a scene in which all three are naked in the same bed.

Reviews and criticism
The German magazine Die Zeit noted the director’s realistic view of the coverage of typical problems of “middle age” (the death of parents, the question of children and the need to marry), as well as the openness and sensuality of displaying homosexual love scenes, which “is not often seen in cinema". The magazine also notes the high emotionality of "silent scenes", which can be safely attributed to the most "strong" scenes of the film. [2]
The film was nominated in six categories for the Deutscher Filmpreis 2011 film award and won in three categories - Best Actress (Sophie Royce), Best Director (Tom Tykver) and Best Editing (Matilda Bonnefloy). Other nominations included Best Movie, Best Movie Music, and Best Sound Design.
