Geography
The city is located in the north-western part of Fars, in the high valley southeast of the Zagros , at an altitude of 2436 meters above sea level [2] . Ardakan located at a distance of approximately 85 kilometers north-west of Shiraz , the provincial capital and 600 kilometers south of Tehran , the capital.
Population
According to the census, in 2006 the population was 16,212 people [3] ; in the national composition, Persians [4] and Kashkays [4] prevail.
