Biography

Alexander Biryukov was born in 1920 in the city of Kamen in the Altai province (now Kamen-on-Ob , Altai Territory ) into a working-class family. After graduating from seven grades of the school, he worked in the Siberian Exploration Party. In 1940 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II . By April 1944, the guard sergeant Alexander Biryukov commanded a division of the 105th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 34th Guards Rifle Division of the 46th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Moldavian SSR [1] .

On April 17, 1944, Biryukov was one of the first in his unit to force the Dniester near the village of Raskaetsy in the Suvorov district of the Moldavian SSR and break through to the dominant height occupied by the enemy. Having repulsed her, he entrenched on her, successfully repelling enemy counterattacks [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 13, 1944, Sergeant Alexander Biryukov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .

In 1944 he joined the CPSU (b) . After the war, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army for some time, demobilized in 1947 with the rank of foreman . He lived and worked in the city of Lyubertsy, Moscow Region . He died on December 14, 1973 [1] .

He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
