Biography

Ivan Biketov was born on December 26, 1915 in the village of Lozovo-Pavlovsky mine (now - the village of Pavlovka, Sverdlovsk city council of the Luhansk region of Ukraine ) in a working family. Until 1932 he studied at the seven-year school of the Kadievsky district of the Luhansk region and the school of factory apprenticeship in Stavropol . At the same time he studied at the evening courses of the mining technical school , but did not finish it completely. In 1933 he worked at the Stavropol plant as an electric installer. In 1934 - 1937 he was an electrician at the coke and chemical plant No. 14 of the Kadievsky district. In 1937-1939 he worked in the Donbass mines, was a wagoner, slaughterer, foreman, assistant to the head of mine section No. 3/4 [1] .

In December 1939 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Until June 1940, he was a Red Army soldier of the 530th Rifle Regiment of the Odessa Military District . In September 1941, Biketov graduated from the Krasnodar Artillery and Mortar School [1] .

Since January 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In September 1941 - June 1942 he commanded a battery of mortars of the 193rd cavalry regiment of the 172nd cavalry division. In June 1942 - April 1943 he commanded the artillery and mortar division of the 40th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the North Caucasus Front . In April 1943 - January 1944 he was chief of artillery of the 48th Infantry Regiment of the 38th Infantry Division of the 40th Army of the Voronezh Front [1] .

May 18, 1942 on Mount Yenikale was wounded and shell-shocked in the head. He was wounded and shell-shocked a second time during the battle of the Dnieper . On the night of September 23-24, 1943, in the vicinity of the village of Grigorovka, Kanevsky District, Cherkasy Region of the Ukrainian SSR , despite massive machine gun and artillery fire, Major Biketov promptly organized the crossing of the artillery regiment to the west bank of the Dnieper . On the morning of September 24, the bridgehead was captured. Biketov personally took an active part in repelling enemy counterattacks [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 23, 1943, for the "exemplary performance of command missions on the front against the Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown" Major Ivan Biketov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the medal " Golden Star ” under the number 1771 [1] .

In January 1944 - October 1945, Biketov was deputy commander for the combatant part of the 480th artillery and mortar regiment. In October 1945 - October 1946 he commanded the 447th mortar regiment of the 502nd artillery brigade of the 316th rifle division of the Carpathian Military District . In October 1946, the rank of lieutenant colonel Biketov was demobilized due to illness [1] .

Until August 1947, he worked as agricultural instructors at the Gonorovsky Sugar Plant in the village of Dzegovka, Yampolsky District, Vinnitsa Region . In August 1947 - March 1948 he was chairman of the village council in Dzegovka. Then he moved to Voroshilovgrad (now - Lugansk ). In May 1948 - August 1949 he was an engineer at the plant of the Ministry of Railways. In October 1949 - June 1950 he worked as an assistant director for personnel of the mill No. 7, in November 1950 - April 1951 - as the head of the plant department of the Ministry of Railways. In May 1951 he was fired. He died on September 4, 1958 [1] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner and World War 1 degree, as well as a number of medals [1] .
