Rzhakinsky district is an administrative-territorial unit ( district ) and a municipality ( municipal district ) in the south of the central part of the Tambov region of Russia .

Content

Geography

The area is 1370 km². The main rivers are the Savala , the Dry Rzhaks , the Crow .

The territory of the district covers an area of ​​141.5 thousand hectares, of which over 120 thousand hectares are occupied by agricultural land and about 3,400 hectares are occupied by forests. The flat landscape is crossed by streams, ravines and rivers, of which the largest is the River Crow.

Borders: with Rasskazovsky, Inzhavinsky, Uvarovsky, Zherdevsky and Sampursky districts of the region.

History

The Rzhaksinsky district was formed in July 1928 by uniting six volosts that were part of the Tambovsky and Kirsanov districts and several villages of the Uvarovsky volost of Borisoglebsky district. From its composition in 1938, the Kamensky District was separated, later, in 1959, it again became part of the Rzhaksinsky District. The lands on which the district is located had the historical name Wild Field.

In the Great Patriotic War, more than 17 thousand inhabitants of the region took part, seven brave warriors were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

In accordance with the Law of the Tambov Region of September 17, 2004 No. 232-З [3] , 1 urban and 12 rural settlements (village councils) were established in the district, and municipal boundaries were established.

In accordance with the Law of the Tambov Region of November 8, 2010 No. 702-З [4], Protasovsky and Kamensky Village Soviets are united into Kamensky Village Council.

In accordance with the Law of the Tambov Region of May 24, 2013 No. 271-3 [5], Gavrilovsky and Aleksandrovsky Village Councils are united into the Gavrilovsky Village Council.

Culture

The pride of the district is the world champion in classic wrestling Yevgeny Artyukhin, born in the village of Shiryaevka. A large cultural and educational work is carried out in the district by the teams of Rzhaksinsky, Kamensky, Protasovsky and other rural clubs. In 1960, a children's music school opened and the Rzaksinsky Academic Choir was established, which is also known outside the district.
