The Frankfurt Stock Exchange ( German: Börse Frankfurt ) is the largest German and one of the largest world exchanges . The site is operated by Deutsche Boerse Group AG . The starting point for the exchange is considered to be the adoption by traders in 1585 of uniform exchange rates in Frankfurt am Main , which by that time had already become a major European trading center. Leading position in Germany since 1949 . Under the control of the Deutsche Boerse Group, created on its basis, was transferred in 1993 .

Main index: DAX ( German: Deutscher Aktienindex ) - reflects stock prices of the 30 largest German companies, is a barometer of the state of the German economy. In 2017, the European Commission Antimonopoly Committee made a decision on the merger plans of the London and Frankfurt Exchanges. Margret Westagher, the head of the committee, said that the European Commission had decided to block the merger of the two exchanges, since “the merger can lead to the formation of an actual monopoly in a number of markets, and one of the goals of the commission is to ensure that the merger does not harm competition”. Legal Regulation
Independent supervision of the securities market in Germany is carried out by the Market Supervision Authority (HÜSt), the Stock Exchange Supervisory Authority of the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and Regional Development and the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority ( BaFin ) [2] .
