The station is located at the intersection of Baici-илиilinski Avenue, Attila Josef Street and Andrássy Avenue . Andrássy Avenue , one of the most famous streets of Budapest, starts from this intersection, and the M1 line of the Budapest Metro from Baichi-илиilinski Ut station continues along it all the way to Heroes Square ( Hösökere Tere station ).
The station was opened on May 2, 1896 as part of the first line of the Budapest Metro, which also became the first metro line in continental Europe. Previously bore the name “Váci korut” ( Hungarian. Váczy körút - Váci Boulevard), renamed in honor of the anti-fascist activist Endre Baici-илиilinski .
