Neoplan N138 / 4 Jumbocruiser ; also The Jumbocruiser (sometimes referred to simply as jumbo ) is a two-story 103-seater tourist liner manufactured by Neoplan . This bus is still the only articulated tourist bus.

The Jumboruiser bus was designed in 1973 based on the 1971 Neoplan Skyliner . The subsequent release of the articulated liner lasted almost 20 years, during which time the bus was unified with Skyliner. Neoplan Jumbocruiser buses ceased to be manufactured in 1993 , the last model was completely redone and was similar to the Skyliner version of 2000. These buses can still be found on European roads.
Model Description
The Neoplan Jumbocruiser is a "very large class" bus and reaches 18 meters in length and exactly 4 meters in height.
The body design of the bus varies depending on the year of its construction - the Neoplan Cityliner bus of the release of various modifications from 1971 to 2000 was taken as the base. The latest model of 1993 release has more rounded shapes and a secondary coating of the body with metal - plastic . The body of the bus wagon layout. The front of the bus is curved and "descends" from top to bottom. Lighting was originally represented by single headlights, later models have 3 on each side and another 1 fog. The bumper of the bus is welded, clearly defined. The Neoplan emblem is attached under the left headlights. Since the bus is double-decker, the windshield is not continuous, but divided in two. The lower and upper windshields are panoramic. The windshield wipers of the lower windshield are parallel to each other, this part has not changed, one large wiper is located on top. Large-sized side mirrors in the form of “hare ears”.
The bus has 4 axles (8 × 2 wheel arrangement), the tractor can have 3 axles and the trailer has 1 axis, or the tractor and trailer have two; disc wheels. The connecting section (accordion) is made of steel and makes it possible to move through it along the upper floor of the bus.
The engine is located behind the rear panel. The bus engine has a power of 326 kilowatts, used either by Daimler Benz or Mercedes-Benz OM404; 12 cylinders in total. The bus has 4 doors that can be opened remotely from the driver’s cab parallel to the body: one door on the left and three on the right.
The bus compartment accommodates 102 passengers, on the lower floor fewer passengers than on the upper. The disadvantage of the second floor is the very low height of the ceilings - only 1 meter 67 centimeters. The bus seats are comfortable, separate type, the seatbacks are well regulated. Air conditioning is carried out using 2 climate control units. The connecting accordion does not interfere with the movement of passengers, however, there are no more seats under the articulation unit on the lower floor. The interior lighting is realized with the help of lamps located along the entire length of the interior. The bus can be installed toilet, refrigerator, coffee maker and many other devices.
There are also several cavities in the body that can be used for various purposes, for example, they may contain equipment for washing the bus or water for cooling the engine. The bus has large luggage compartments, the volume of which is 16 m ³.
The driver's seat and driving comfort in younger models is close to modern: the dashboard is plastic, the ZF steering wheel with power steering, the seat is comfortable and is adjustable in height and depth; the gearbox is 6-speed, the lever is small and is located right next to the driver's seat. The same dashboard was used on the Neoplan Spaceliner bus, a two-story 12-meter model. According to the transportation comfort class, the bus is defined as a three-star.
