History

Slyudyanka has long been famous for its deposits of mica. Small artisanal mining began in 1902, but was insufficient. In 1924, the Slyudoyuz trust was created, which was engaged in the extraction of mica throughout the USSR and uniting it. In 1927, the Slyudyansk mine department was established.

Mica Mining

Mining and digestion of mica was a very important strategic production. Mica - phlogopite was used in the perfumery, aerospace industry, and the production of radio and electrical equipment. Nine mines worked. In the war, the strategic production of mica records was carried out with threefold efforts, as East Siberian Truth repeatedly mentioned. After the war, mine development of phlogopite began. In 1958, one of the mines was flooded with groundwater. Despite unprecedented measures to divert water, it never worked. In 1973, mining of mica in the Slyudyansk mine department ceased. According to one version, this is due to the fact that the mica mined in Aldan , Yakutia , was to be marketed . According to another, the production of mica has become unpromising in connection with the invention of new types of insulators for radio engineering [1] .

Mining of marble and building materials

The mining department faced the issue of reprofiling. It was necessary to save jobs. In 1975, the Slyudyansk mine department completely stopped the extraction of mica and switched to the development of deposits of facing stone and building materials. The Slyudyansk mine department included the quarries “Burovschina”, “Dynamite”, a stone-processing workshop, a mosaic tile production workshop and other enterprises.

Sawing of blocks, grinding and polishing of marble slabs were carried out in a stone-processing workshop. Plots for the production of consumer goods and glued boards were built. In the manufacture of mosaic tiles use presses and grinding equipment. Facing stone and tile were used in the arrangement of the Moscow, Kharkov, and Novosibirsk metro stations [2] .

Privatization

In 1993, the company was privatized and split into several OJSCs: OJSC “Baikal Stone Processing Plant”, OJSC “Career Burovschina”, OJSC “Baikalpromkamen” [3] .
