History
A distribution network arose in 1910 under the name Rautakirja and envisioned the sale of book and newspaper products by a number of Finnish publishers in railway stores. Later, the range of sales was expanded, and in 1958 the stores received their modern name - R-kioski .
From 2002 to 2012, the Norwegian company Reitan Servicehandel negotiated the purchase of the R-kioski chain of stores with the Finnish concern Sanoma , but the deal was postponed due to the merger of Sanoma and WSOY (currently the SanomaWSOY media concern ).
On March 5, 2012, the SanomaWSOY concern sold its trading activities to the Norwegians, in connection with which the Rautakirja brand was transferred to the ownership of Reitan Servicehandel. The transaction value amounted to 130.7 million euros [1] , and the new owner received almost 2500 outlets R-kioski (the second largest brand in Europe) [2] .
In 2011, the company's turnover amounted to 375 million euros (in 2010 - 398.4 million euros). [3]
