Neoplan N1216 (also Neoplan Cityliner-2006 ) is the most modern modification of the Neoplan Cityliner buses, produced since 2006 by Neoplan Bus Gmbh. This 13-meter tourist liner is the most modern of the Neoplan travel coaches, has many advantages and innovations, a futuristic and original design, as well as particularly high comfort for drivers and long-distance passengers. Modifications
Neoplan Cityliner is available in 3 versions:
- Neoplan N1216HD (Cityliner, P14) is a basic 12.5 meter biaxial model of normal capacity.
- Neoplan N1217HDC (Cityliner C, P15) - 12.9-meter three-axle bus with normal capacity.
- Neoplan N1218HDL (Cityliner L, P16) is a 14-meter high-capacity three-axle liner.
Model Description
The Neoplan N1216 bus is a VIP-Class comfort liner. The body design of the bus is very futuristic, the body of the liner is characterized by rounded shapes with smoothing at the corners; the bus body is made of stainless steel and coated with metal plastic as a secondary coating; body of a carriage arrangement, bearing type.
The front of the bus is divided in height in half with “eyebrows”, though much smaller and thinner than other Neoplan buses of the same style; divided by height and windshield.

Lighting equipment on the box is represented by four rounded headlights on each side; headlights on top are covered with lens glass, which significantly increases the foresight of lighting technology. Fog lights are located on the bumper; The bumper is attached to the body, outlined fuzzy. The Neoplan logo is located in the middle of the radiator, which is covered with a shiny metal sheet. This front end design gives the bus an even more futuristic look. The lower and upper windshields are panoramic, the lower wipers are hidden under the panel located above the headlights. The wiper of the upper windshield is one, but large and cleans almost all of the upper windshield from precipitation.
The sides of the bus are also made of stainless steel, the luggage compartments are interconnected and very spacious - from 10.4 to 11.4 m³. The bus has a lot of folding compartments on the sides, which can contain various objects - water for cooling the engine, things for washing the bus, additional compartments for luggage, etc.
Wheel arches (i.e. cutouts in the back of the wheels) are square (similar to Neoplan Jumbocruiser wheel arches); the bus has two or three axles (depending on version). All bus wheels are disc in size 295/80 R × 22.5.
Side mirrors are removable and can be rotated, they are large in size with a plastic trim in the style of "hare ears".
The bus engine is located behind the rear panel, 1 large exhaust pipe with a powerful muffler is responsible for the removal of gases.
The design of the rear panel of the bus also has an unusual and futuristic design. The rear bumper is clearly defined; The rear “number” is attached to a special protrusion of the hinged panel that covers the engine. The Neoplan emblem is attached above the hinged panel on the back, there is a rear window on which the “stars” of comfort, the convenience of the bus, its system and speed limits of 80 or 100 km / h are usually glued.
Doors on the bus 2: the front doors are located opposite the driver's seat, the middle ones are located in the "base". Doors open parallel to the body, only the front doors have glazing; the glass of the doors is also tinted, there is a manual drive to open the doors in case of a malfunction. 3 (front doors) and 5 (middle doors) safety stages lead to the bus interior.
The bus interior is made with the highest comfort and modern design. The flooring of the bus is made of high-quality and durable linoleum upholstered in some places (for example, the steps are upholstered with them to increase safety). The passenger seats are chic, made of various synthetic materials. The width between the rows is very large. The seatbacks are equipped with a folding plastic table in a light color, as well as nets for keeping small items and a folding foot pedal that can be retracted and moved apart. Each seat has a working seat belt (passengers can wear it if necessary, and drivers should, because it is necessary) and an arched armrest for each passenger. Seats 1, 2, 3 and 4 (first) do not have such a drawback as the narrowness of the passage, they have an installed mini table for the entire length of 2 seats, a foot pedal and a net for keeping things. In total, the bus has 12-14 rows, there are 5 seats in the back, forming a “back sofa”.
The windows of the bus are tinted in blue (although outwardly it seems black) there are also curtains with rivets of fastening one curtain with another. At the top there is a shelf where passengers can put travel bags. Above the seats there is individual air conditioning, individual lighting.
Air conditioning in the cabin is artificial (individual), through hatches and panel. The liquid heating is distributed using a special fan or on the panels on the left and right sides of the bus inside. The ceiling is very high, so the liner is extremely convenient for people of high stature.
Illumination in the cabin is carried out using large lamps. There are LCD Video-CD televisions that are turned on by drivers from the driver’s seat, the screen is also transmitted to small hinged televisions on the dashboard. Also, the bus has a thermometer (one in the cabin, mounted on the wall, the other on the control panel), a large digital clock.
The driver's seat is comfortable; steering column safety, steering wheel ZF Servoсom with power steering, which makes driving easy. The dashboard is made in the style of a semicircle "dash", the keys on the panel are easy to read and have their own backlight, as well as pointer devices. The speedometer (at 128 km / h) is located on the left, the tachometer and gasoline meter are located in the right section. Other accessories are installed to the left of the speedometer. Between the tachometer and speedometer there is a board for monitoring the status of the bus, which also displays the transmission. included at the moment, GPRS control can be installed, there is a VCD TV with its control system; pedals with hydropneumatic ZF Booster system are pressed easily, which makes it easy to even press the clutch pedal “to the floor”; there is also a fan for the driver's seat.
The bus has a 12-speed gearbox, a very convenient and short lever adjacent to the driver's seat. Above there are rails along which drivers can obscure the windshield in strong sun; a significant plus is the powerful soundproofing of the cabin thanks to which the engine is almost inaudible.
The bus has many other systems and amenities, such as MSC (maximum speed limiter); EBS brake system, including anti-lock ABS and anti-slip ASR , with which each wheel brakes separately. There is a toilet, coffee maker, fridge, kettle and much more. There is also the possibility of installing another engine, a transmission from MAN , and installing an additional fuel tank of 400 liters (then the total capacity of the tanks will increase to 840 liters).
