Biography
During the Great Patriotic War he ended up in occupied territory, was in a concentration camp, was liberated by the Soviet army.
He graduated from high school with a gold medal. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University (1958). Pupil G.I. Petrova. The theme of the Ph.D. thesis: "The boundary layer with a pressure gradient in the flow of compressible fluid" (1963). [3] Theme of the doctoral dissertation: “Issues of nonlinear hydrodynamic stability of viscous fluid layers, capillary jets and internal flows” (1973).
In 1961-1973 he worked at the Institute of Mechanics of Moscow State University , a senior research fellow. In 1974 he moved to the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University, becoming the head of the laboratory of computational methods of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics (until 1979). Professor, Department of Aeromechanics and Gas Dynamics, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Moscow State University (since 1979).
Scientific activity
Scientific research in the field of fluid and gas mechanics , dynamics of viscous fluids, hydrodynamic stability, transition to turbulence, boundary layer, subsonic and transonic flows, flows with separation regions and interfaces, gravitational-capillary flows with heat and mass transfer, flows under the influence of electric fields. I solved the famous problem of Academician P.L. Kapitsa on nonlinear periodic and solitary waves in flowing films. He created the theory of nonlinear waves in thin moving layers of a viscous fluid (films).
Lecture courses: “Hydroaeromechanics”, “Theory of the boundary layer”, “Theory of hydrodynamic stability”, “Flows of a viscous fluid with a free surface”, “Numerical methods of gas dynamics and heat transfer”, as well as “Computing machines and programming”, “Numerical methods for equations with partial derivatives ”,“ Capillary hydrodynamics ”.
The author of more than 250 scientific papers, has a number of copyright certificates. Prepared 34 candidates and 10 doctors of sciences. Emeritus Professor of Moscow University (2002).
Member of the Russian National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics , scientific societies GAMM and EUROMECH . Member of the Editorial Board of the journal “Bulletin of Moscow University. Ser. 1. Mathematics. Mechanics . "
