Black-capped hemispingus [2] ( lat. Hemispingus atropileus ) is a species of bird from the Tanagra family. Birds live in subtropical and tropical mountain rainforests, at an altitude of 2300–3350 above sea level [3] , in western Venezuela (the Andes of southern Tachira ) and mainly in the Andes of Colombia and on the slopes of the mountains of Ecuador to the south to the extreme northwest of Peru (northern Piura north of the River Maranion ) [1] . Body length 16-18 cm [4] , weight about 22 grams [3] .
